November Tasting / 2007 Syrah Release!
Our November tasting will be held on the 21st and 22nd from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We will be releasing our 2007 Syrah. This Syrah is composed of 84% Syrah 12%, Mourvedre, 4% Grenache and was aged 20 months on new and seasoned American oak. In addition to our Syrah we will be pouring many of our other award winning wines.

Greetings From Creekview Vineyards!

Well we are still drying out from the big storm that passed through our area Monday and Tuesday. Fortunately we were able to pick over the weekend and get the Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Mourvedre and Negrette into tanks before the torrential rains. We still have Petite Verdot, Cabernet and Sangiovese to bring in over the next couple of weeks.

October Tasting / 2007 Late Harvest Zinfandel Release!
Our October tasting will be held on the 17th and 18th. We will be releasing our 2007 Late Harvest Zinfandel. This wine was a big challenge for us. The grapes came in from the vineyard around 27 brix but large quantites of raisins made the sugars climb to over 31 brix! The fermentation started in October of 2007 and finished in April of 2008!

Awards Update
Creekview Vineyards was recently awarded a gold medal at the 2009 Orange County Fair Commercial Wine Competition for the 2006 Santa Clara Valley Syrah. This year 3,089 wines were judged and only 1,544 wines received awards.

San Martin Winery Recognized for its Commitment to Excellence

SAN MARTIN, Calif., January 26, 2009 – Creekview Vineyards’ Syrah and Chardonnay wines earned a double gold and gold respectively in the recent San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, billed as the largest competition of American wines in the world. More than 4,730 wines from 26 states were evaluated by a panel of 55 professional wine judges during the weeklong competition held January 5 through January 9 at the Cloverdale Citrus Fairgrounds in Sonoma County.

“We are thrilled with the recent awards and are very excited to see more wineries from the Santa Clara Valley producing award-winning wines,” said Greg Peterson, vintner and owner of Creekview Vineyards. “The Santa Clara Valley has a rich history of winemaking that dates back to the late 1700s. We are seeing a revival of the valley as more wineries are opening and small vineyards are popping up all over the region.”

The winery’s 2006 Santa Clara Valley Syrah was awarded a double gold in the $15 to $24.99 per bottle category. The wine was produced with grapes from the Dorcich, Wolfenbarger and Creekview Estate vineyards, all located in southern Santa Clara Valley. It has aromas of rich floral spice and dark chocolate cherries. The flavors are of dark dried figs and dried cherries with silk caramel spice. The velvet finish has well-rounded tannins.

Creekview won a gold award for its 2007 Arroyo Seco Chardonnay in the $20 to $29.99 per bottle category. The grapes are from the Ventana Arroyo Seco vineyard in the Salinas Valley. The aromas are an infusion of pear and apple with a hint of honey. The flavors are a rich butter cream married with an essence of apricot and a touch of pineapple. It finishes with a gentile spice. The family-owned and operated Creekview Vineyards has won a number of awards since Peterson and his wife Teri officially opened the winery in 2005. They produce classic varietals such as Syrah, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Chardonnay along with a premium, estate-grown and bottled Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel.

Wine enthusiasts will have the opportunity to sample this year’s winning wines at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition Public Tasting scheduled for February 28 at Fort Mason’s Festival Pavilion in San Francisco.
