The Vineyards:
The Wolfenbarger
Vineyard located in Santa Clara Valley,
consisting of old vine Zinfandel dates
back to the late 1800?s. These vines
are some of the oldest in the state of
California. The vineyard is dry farmed and
head pruned producing low yields with
intensely concentrated flavors.
Tasting Notes:
This new release opens
to a nose of blackberry, blueberry, plum
and blueberry crisp. A definite woody
bramble note and hints of black and
white pepper and rosemary completes this
complex aroma. Ripe Blackberry, crushed
blueberry, plum and raisin bread pudding
hit the front of the mouth leading to
well defined ripe berries and tannins mid
palate. What a foody wine this is. Great
acid balance with the fruit but not hot
as so many 16 plus alcohol Zins can be.
The finish is rustic Zin, reminiscent of
Primitivo all the way and begs savory
meats as the meal to pair with but I love
this all by itself. Time for another glass?.
